Our Krav Maga kids classes have been designed around two key elements. Protecting children from other children and protecting children from adults. Two very different situations that need very different approaches which sports or traditional martial arts don't cover.
These classes are based around having fun while learning important life skills.
At Isle of Wight Krav Maga Self Defence our key values are respect, self-control and discipline. As such classes are both friendly and welcoming to all, regardless of ability or experience, so there is no need to worry about “fitting in”. We will work with you to achieve your personal goals whilst enabling you to develop the skills necessary to protect both yourself and family should you need to.
Krav Maga is the official self defence system used by the Israeli defence forces.
Unlike Martial Arts, Krav Maga is neither a sport nor a competitive fighting system. Instead its focus is on real life situations and hand to hand combat.
Krav Maga teaches that initial aim should be to completely avoid a violent situation. First and foremost you will be taught to attempt to control and diffuse threats in the shortest possible time. After all you know nothing about the other person and their strengths, capabilities etc. You don’t beat someone physically by paining them into submission on the street, you defeat someone psychologically and physiologically. At IWKM we cover all aspects of self defence including dealing with more than one attacker at a time and defending against knife, stick, bottle threats and attacks. At higher levels we deal with firearm threats.
Krav Maga does whatever works in order to protect yourself- it uses an aggressive and continuous motion during any violent situation and target all vulnerable parts of the body.
Our instructors are certified to teach Krav Maga through Krav Maga Global (KMG), the most professional Krav Maga training organisation in the world lead by Chief Instructor Eyal Yanilov and supported by his team of International Instructors based out of Israel and Europe. KMG is active in over 60 countries around the world and is the gold standard of Krav Maga Instructor Training. To become a KMG certified instructor you have to pass the legendary GIC (General Instructors Course) 24 days of intensive Krav Maga and teaching instruction from some of the most experienced and well respected Krav Maga Experts in the world, with 3 physical and written exams. Including a BTEC in self defence instruction. The KIC (Kids Instructor Course) is a further 5 days including a further teaching exam.
Unlike some Krav Maga organisations that certify you as an instructor after a weekend bootcamp KMG Instructor Certificates are earned not given!

Frequently asked questions
What should I wear to my trial class? T-shirt, tracksuit trousers and indoor trainers. Please bring a bottle of water.
I have never done anything like this before, is this OK? Absolutely, we all had to attend our first class! It's a very welcoming club.
I'm really unfit/overweight, does this matter? No. Krav Maga will help you get fit and loose weight. You don't need to be fit to start training. That's like saying 'I won't take my car to the car wash because it's too dirty!'
How much are the classes after the trial classes? Please speak to your instructor after your first class for our latest prices.
